1. Removing the PAIR is pointless and potentially detrimental. "Cleaning the area up" under that gas tank is useless - the roaches don't care what it looks like.
2. A pair of hard and rotten nipples can give even the best of men a good bit of grief.
That is all....
They don't have to be rotten, but it does all boil down to the maintenance requirements.......

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can sure muffle the sound.

Have the little darlings make you a set of block off plates.
High school does, but unless I could get schematic drawings from another reputable source, I am not letting my FJR be apart in the high school for disassembly and inspection. That would be akin to letting the HS shop class measure the panties on Halle Barry for fitment. Not gonna happen without someone getting a hard on and trying to stick something in an orifice. At least Halle could fight back.
I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!

Many owners around here have installed the Wynpro plates, which means they’ve removed their stock covers with the elbows. All the kids would have to do is trace the outline on some aluminum plate and drill the bolt holes in the right spot…and even that doesn’t have to be “machinist” precise. I’m sure somebody would send you the OEM removed plates to copy. They wouldn’t even have to touch your bike.

You can buy them cheap, it's not worth the hassle of having someone make them. I could make them myself but they are cheaper online than I could make them for.

Did you find all my boogers in there?

That open hole was filled with something. Might have been some of your wiener boogers!

I am going to look for some block off plates. Thanks for the ideas.
