What did you do to your FJR today?
I know this thread's been done elsewhere, but I enjoy reading about how folks customize their bikes, and I occasionally get inspired by some farkles. So I'm starting the same thread here.
Tell us, what have you done to your FJR today?
=================================================================================
About a month ago, I mounted an iPad mini on the shelf. I'm trying to develop a tablet-based cockpit.
Turns out not to work very well. Tablet obscures my view of the dashboard -- fuel gauge and turn signals -- when mounted to allow full windscreen travel. Don't want to compromise that. Handlebars turned lock-to-lock without issues.
Was able to easily check route and weather radar on the tablet, but unable to display iPhone controls. (iPhone sits protected in the glovebox, plugged into power and acting as the personal hotspot, but out of sight and out of reach.)
Going back to the drawing board.

"Getting inspired by the farkle ideas" huh? I guess that's one way of putting it, I'd call it the keeping the danged checkbook empty syndrome

I stopped by the motorcycle school after work this morning to visit the neglected FJR, Tenere, 999, Hypermotard, XR650 and all 17 training bikes. They are quietly waiting for some TLC and warmer weather. Saddest shit I ever seen.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Well not today, but over the last two weeks;
Oil change
Coolant change
Valve check and adjust
Fork oil change
Shock relay arm change-out for one with zerks.
Shimmed Penske shock lower mount
Lubed rear brake pedal pivot
Still coming are;
Throttle body sync.
Shifter linkage lube if I can ever loosen that dam T50 screw without breaking shit with a manual impact tool.

Got some summertime techno-gloves, so yeah, it worked. The iPad was also in an Otterbox waterproof case, and the touch screen gloves worked well through all of it.Hppants wrote:Curious Hud - did the I-pad work with your gloves on?
Google Maps, however, worked differently on the tablet than on the phone. Couldn't figure out why.

Last weekend finished annual maintenance on the FJR & Tenere including fresh coolant and clutch and brake fluid change. Now that the snow is gone, I feel a mighty fine ride coming up this weekend!

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Just some simple fluid changes today. Oil and final drive. There are some slight differences in the body work and procedures that I was used to in the Gen 1.
The drain bolt seemed more accessible on the 04. The body work was more flexible on the "tail" near the oil filter.
Once the garage got heated up with the propane heater, it was very enjoyable

I eyeballed my tires and decided I'm gonna have to change them before SEO. Shit, they still have a couple of K left on them.

Rode her to Braselton to pick up a water meter. It fit easily in the port-side hardcase. Weather was a few degrees above freezing -- literally.

Prob should read what that torque spec is in the FSM.

Re: RE: Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Dude, it's an oil drain bolt, so the torque spec will be FUBAR. If you use the crush washer, go until the washer crushes. If not, goodntite should do it. Don't lose your mind either way, and you should be fine.Cav47 wrote:I did not torque it once0face wrote:He does that several times a day...Hppants wrote:Josh - did you torque the pumpkin drain bolt?

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Rode it to work today in the HOV lane at 65-70 mph while the other four lanes were stopped cold. Yipppeee!
At my HOV-only exit ramp? Two Georgia State Patrolmen and one City of Atlanta motor officer writing tickets to five single-occupant cars. Raised the visor and shouted "Thank, you!'' several times.
