Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Bungie - when my rear tire looks like that, and it doesn't matter which brand it is, I've got about 500 miles before the tread is gone and another 300 before the first cord pops through.
I am just amazed at the mileage some of us get on tires. Josh and I are fixing to do a side-by-side comparison 7500 mile test on Michelin PR4 v/s Dunlop RS3s. Maybe I'll learn something. But I doubt it.

The difference tween, PR4 and RS3's is $50/set and more with a Dunlop rebate that is $50 - $75.
Ah shucks now I have turned this into a tire thread.

Checked tire pressures..rear tire 24lbs..Inspected rear tire (brand new rear tire!)... roofing nail found. Called friendly local m/c shop, getting ANOTHER Pirelli Angel GT “A” spec tire flown in, hopefully to arrive on Monday.

Dear Sir: Did you have your home re-roofed recently? Sorry to hear of your new tire is ruined .CollingsBob wrote: ↑Thu Jun 14, 2018 8:51 pm Checked tire pressures..rear tire 24lbs..Inspected rear tire (brand new rear tire!)... roofing nail found. Looking forward to meeting you at CRF where you can try my Russell saddle. I love helping other people spend money! Laam saddles are very good too and there will be folks there with Laam saddles like the man known as --G.

I've run twisty roads, thousands of miles, and FJR nominal speeds on a double plugged rear tire.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I mounted a new Roadsmart 3 on the rear. I got about 7,500 miles out of the last one. I also will get a $100 rebate from Dunlop ($75 for purchasing a set and $25 for purchasing a dealer service).

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Mounted my wheels with my brand new RS3s installed. Like RacinRay, I am about to send in the rebate for $100. Makes the price for the set $215 mounted and balanced from Chaparral. Nice!
I also stripped off the Seat Concepts I picked up a few months ago. I noticed that the seat cupped my butt better and didn't cause butt pain on long days, but I also noticed that the scoop causes me to arch my back forward in a funny way in the canyons. I also noticed that it's hard, which is part of why it doesn't have such painful pressure points, but also doesn't have much give. Because I keep my suspension rather stiff, the lack of give coupled with my riding position was causing some lower back pain. I switched back to stock for now, which leads me to a different set of complaints, but is all-around probably preferable. I may reinstall the Seat Concepts or it will go for sale soon; it's a good seat, I'm just not sure the improvements justify the compromises for me for the reasons listed.
Went for a quick ride a few miles up Angeles Crest Highway, to take the shine off the RS3s, to re-try the stock seat, and to test some tweaks RaYzerman suggested.
I'm also obsessing about adding to the fleet. This state of mind is perpetual for me. It's unlikely I'll part with the FJR just yet (ever?), but I'd still like to (re)add a Tenere, and maybe a FZ-07 for some of the short-trip ripping around and canyon riding I like to do. Time will tell.

Oil and filter change and swap to the two-up shock spring. Nakusp and Spearfish are in my sights!

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Changed the front brake pads today. Easy peasy. My 09 has 92,000 miles and this was the first pad change. Got the Yamaha pad - a bit pricey but they work well and didn't trash the rotor. Good enough reason for me to buy them again.
Learned Pants will not make it to CFR and Spearfish. Damn shame and I feel for him. This was very sad news. Wishing him a complete recovery.

Strapped on the loboo duffels after uncovering it after a week in a hotel parking lot and rode it about 3 hours home.

Put on a rear tire takeoff for next Saturday's twisty ride to the Cherohala. It should last the day...and hopefully another ride after that.

Waiting patiently for the dealer to replace my es shock that's currently on back order from Japan. This is why you need 2 bikes. Seriously considering a s1000xr
