New rear tire, Angel ST. The old still had some tread left but with an upcoming trip I didn't want to stress over it.

This is a big plus for having your own tire machine. Leave on a trip with new rubber and don't stress over it. Keep the take offs to mess around with at home.

Road it 9.5 hrs to Sparta, NC. 6 hours on and off rain, and an hour of that was thunderstorms. BRP wet with leaves and tree and stone debris sucks. But it better than working. Maggie Valley tomorrow

Cleaned the cobwebs off the bike and checked the tires.
Searched for the GPS, moved it because of table "clutter" to please wife.

The adapter plate is raw aluminum inside the hole for the sensor.... aluminum corrosion builds and can bridge over to the sensor, which electronically is a leak path... will send false signals. Clean hole, smear some dielectric or silicone grease in the hole and give the black plastic sleeve on the sensor a wee smear too.
You may or may not have an error code stored in DiAG related to sensor signals... no worries, just clear them.

I rode the FJR 275 miles yesterday. The day started riding with the local BMW group I ride with on Tuesdays. After lunch the group ride is over so I extended the ride for 165 miles. I now have 7000 miles on the Dunlop RS4's. I like the tires less the difficulty of installation. The ABS lamp has not illuminated since is went on briefly a few days ago. Stress less ride more.

Wiped down the Ass-fault Grey this morning. When she's buffed up, she looks pretty stealthy.
Took a look at the RS4s closely. 2500 miles in now, they are wearing very evenly and pretty good. I like riding on these more than the RS3 - they are far more compliant, not as harsh. And the wet pavement grip on the RS4 is better than the RS3 - that may be a stretch, but it certainly feels better. I don't have a tread depth gage, but by the seat of my pants (pardon the pun), I'm thinking the rear will go at least 6500, and a bit more on the front. If that proves to be true, then this is my tire, hands down.
Otherwise, I cleaned off all audio connections and put a film of di-electric grease on them. And I put a dab of locktight and tightened the set screw on one of my fork mounted accessory lights.
Today is the first day in almost 70 days that is a total weather wash out. Steady rain and cold all day. Good day to do some simple maintenance on the toys. Get them ready for tomorrow.

I'm over 9,000 miles on my first set of RS4's. The back probably has 1,000-1,500 left in it, the front probably has 3,000-4,000 left in it but is showing a little bit of cupping on one edge of the sipes. Rode it to work Friday. Haven't been caught in rain, but the FJR and Wing had accumulated some dust and plenty of bugs. Washed them both Friday night. On the windshield of the FJR, the water just beaded and ran off. The Wing it did not. I can't remember if I waxed the windshield of the FJR last time, or maybe used Rain-X for plastics. But it was a big difference. So I put Rain-x for plastics on both windshields as well as the Neotec. I assume that will keep the rain away for a few rides.

Disassembled/lubed/cleaned and reassembled the pedal, levers, and pegs. Man, they were grungy.
After riding in the storm, every lock is sticky and gritty. Still working it out with silicon spray.

Took it to the Yamaha dealer service department. Grrrrr..... I hate taking my FJRs to dealers. '23 with 15k miles. Heated grips stopped working at 5.5k miles. Grrrrrrr....... With the assistance of Mudslide Miller and Rayzerman via email we diagnosed left grip resistance out of spec, and right grip an open circuit. Grrrrr.....
This FJR out of the many I have owned also has the worst idle. Frequently up and down. Grrrrrr...... We'll see what they say about that.

Yesterday I road with the local BMW group. We took a nice route to Clarkston Washington for lunch at Roosters along the Snake River.
Here are a few photos from the ride.

During the ride the ABS lamp lit up twice. Tapping the brakes turn the ABS lamp off.
So today I removed the front and rear wheels and clean the ABS Sensor rotor and the sensor. Next I replaced the neutral switch assembly.
I removed the front brake caliper pin. When I installed it the hex key turned before the torque wrench clicked. Nuts. So now the caliper pin hex is no longer a hex. I will take the blame but it is time to get a better set of hex sockets. Anybody have a set they really like?
As I don't have the skill or tools to removed the caliper pin I called the local dealer to get the job done. I have and appointment on October 19th to get the thing fixed. I don't mind to get professional help as needed. I have saved thousand of dollars doing my own work and if once in a while I need to pay to get something fixed I am good with that.
Tomorrow I will ride the FJR to see if cleaning up the Sensor rotor and sensor fixed the ABS lamp problem.
