Not making the "A" suggests to me they are winding down the model to move spare parts. As I've said before just look at what Honda did to wind down the PC800 production. Features started disappearing after 1996. Ran out of front fenders and self-canceling turn signals. The plastics had 1994 or older mold dates even in 1998. It may be that a limited run is being produced to clear excess parts. So if you want one, get it now while you still can.
Every year somebody says that and everybody gets in a tizzy. Every year it's been wrong.
Right?...they haven't done the gloss Cobalt Blue since 2016...so I don't think they are clearing excess parts.

I can’t tell if our 2022 Anniversary Edition has the gold stripe on the top of the tank like the 2019 European one.

You're both retired, just walk in the other room and show her :) Silly :) Kid's today and their texting!
And that is the nice thing about being retired. My barn and work shop is now 8 miles away. When I was gainfully employed it was 250 miles away. I am in my barn and she is at the house in her sewing room.

We are both in our happy place.

Couldn't tell either, but I'll likely know the first week of January........

If that don't work, it'll be the manufacture's show in February..........

I have always wanted a shiny blue FJR. My first road bike was a Honda nighthawk in a very similar shade of blue.

But I’ve found that the liquid graphite has grown on me.

Odds are good that I will own a gray or cobalt blue bike within the next 90 days. Christ. My 2018 looks like it has followed gravel trucks for much of the 85,000 miles on the odometer.

raYzerman wrote: Mon Nov 22, 2021 3:02 pm I don't think you understand modern manufacturing very well. There is nothing stockpiled waiting to be used up, that's so old school. Stuff is made to order and shipped to the assembly plant. Not hard to fire up the injection mold machine to make a run of fenders. Stuff doesn't cost what you think it does or retails for. Could easily strip out ES forks and put real cartridges in them, requires a rear end rethink and ditching all the electronics.... but they are going to do what sells or what they think will sell to the majority of buyers, obviously that's ES.
I know the textbooks. But as an engineer I have learned how to read tea leaves. Honda built the last couple years of PC800 using spare parts. Yamaha is exhibiting the same by discontinuing options and using parts from a discontinued model in a smaller market. If ever the sales numbers become public I doubt very many 2022 FJRs get sold before they run out of inventory, and none for 2023.

Am unaware the ES flew off dealer showrooms faster than A. My dealer initially ordered (2) A and (1) ES. Has not had an ES since 2016. Both A and ES have totally custom suspension components.

Also know the marketing textbooks. Is easy for the ivory tower marketing manager to decide a lower cost A is stealing sales from high profit ES.

Asking for a friend...anyone in Canada dislike black? A new-to-new complete color swap is an easy day job!!
raYzerman wrote: Mon Nov 22, 2021 12:31 pm <<snip>> It would have been cooler (to me) had they brought out a USD version of the A, and I don't think it would have been difficult to do so at all.

I just got off the phone with the dealer. The salesperson remembered me from when I was there looking at the 21.

They cannot order them until this Friday. Ship times look like Jan/Feb. She is calling me Friday with more info. I told her I’ll put a deposit down on a 22, or, if they come down on their 21, I’ll consider it instead. I’ve always wanted that blue, but I find that the liquid graphite has grown on me. At this point, it comes down to pricing.

It would have been nice for Yamaha to have added an up and down quick shifter on the 2022 FJR. The Tracer 9GT has that feature. Maybe they'll wait until customers buy the 2022 model and piss them off next year when they add the quick shifter to the 2023 model. 🙂

I don't see them spending any $$$ on R&D for new features on the FJR1300. This is a dying, low-volume category. Especially since they are no longer in the Euro market. Be glad they still are selling it. I don't think that will be the case for more than another year or two.

Unless they come out with an entirely new model. But with them already selling Tracer 9GT and Sport Touring bikes not selling I don't see Yamaha investing the huge amounts of capital for an entirely new FJR.
