It’s 128 miles from my house to the Dragon, and that’s the direct route. I’ve done it and surrounding roads in a day more times than I can count. I ride a bunch of curvy roads to and from 129. It’s a nice area to ride in.

We haven't decided yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't end up in N GA when I retire. I think it might be the perfect place for us.

I used to race through there until I got the "BIg Wake Up Call" from one of Tenn's finest :shock: I got away with a warning and he told me to check Killboy as he turned his lights on just as we came into view of the photographers. He promised that I will have a great picture and story to tell this only after I lost 10 pounds sweating on the side of the road waiting for my fate to be dealt to me.

The Troopers are often hanging out with the photographers there and think they actually set up shots like that. I have it framed and on the wall in my bar/man cave/personal motorcycle museum. I bet we all have something like that somewhere in our homes. It ended up being a good story and memory as he was actually very nice to me. Had I gotten a ticket there would be no photo on my wall as I had just bought that Z900 and did not need higher insurance rates and of course the $200 ticket. That day changed my whole way of thinking about riding too fast not just there but everywhere. I really don't speed much anymore on the back roads and I find that if I go through the Gap at a normal speed you can still attack the twisties and have fun but just don't go pulling out of them hitting 60 before the next one which is pretty much what he nailed me for.

Yep, I was told by a family member in Colorado that I'm the only person he's ever seen that brakes for the straights and speeds up in the corners. There's no reason to zip as fast as possible when the road is straight, plus, that's where the cops usually are.

Experimenting with a quick disconnect for my dash shelf using an Anderson SB50. Found a place to mount it on the front of the frame and fabricated a little bracket to secure it.

Good connection system although just a bit of overkill. Typically used with larger gauge wire and high current applications. What specification are you using?
I don't think these are waterproof which could become an issue. For corrosion if not for shorting out.

Used them on my boats for years...12volt systems...never any issues with corrosion or water, but I'll give it a rethink. Thanks

In fact I do, Doug's the guy I've ridden with for a long time and purchased and sold bikes to and from. Good guy, and yes, he's got a full Coats tire changing setup and a really nice huge shop. Not as big as Turk's but big. Turns out Texas_T, who some of you LD guys might know, had a split in his front tire after riding in from Phoenix for the lunch. He and another guy had already run to procure a tire so I herded cats and led the group back to Doug's house and we got him set up. I led the group, that's it, then I stood around and watched others spin wrenches and change the tire. Good times hanging out in the shop with a bunch of fellow motorcyclists and getting someone back on the road.
After the tire changing was done and Texas_T was back on the road, the rest of us stuck around talking motorcycles and looking around Doug's shop. He'd recently come across two killer deals on VStrom 1000's that needed some work. As a lover of Suzuki V-Twin liter bikes, he had to have them and tinker with them. He's been going over them top to bottom including repainting some plastics. He was offended when I pointed out that prettying up a Strom is like polishing a turd, but there you go.

He's not one to do ANY kind of motorcycle travel at all. Short day rides are the max, with lots of trips to the race track. While we were there he picks up a tank bag and says "Hey Jasen, you use these things, get it out of my garage" and throws it at me. As it happens my 22 year old RKA Luggage bag has finally bit the dust as the zipper doesn't zip anymore so I catch it and toss it in the bags of the FJR. He doesn't have replacement bolts so I'll have to order the tank ring for myself.

I got home and forgot about it for a couple of weeks then dug it out. Holy smokes, it's a barely used Givi Tanklock! I ordered up the ring kit and turns out it's just the adapter so I had to order the ring and wait for that, but today it came in so I got to tinker on three bolts on the FJR and mount it up. Very nice and super easy, I like having a tank bag on trips for my stuff I need to get to really fast.

Now I'll need to wait and get the ring from him and the adapter for the GSXS so I can swap between the two and make the GSXS a little more capable.

Same one I got.... yer missing the belt with the side pouches that velcro's on the sides..... XS308. The belt doubles as a waist belt you can take with you when off the bike (I never did).

Yea, figured there's some stuff missing what with the velcro panels and looking at some other models online, but it's free so I'm stoked about it. I don't think I'd do that either though. The pouches might be nice but I think the belt part wouldn't get much use.

Treat the main compartment zipper gently. Pull from both sides toward the rear, and round the corners carefully. DAMHIK....
