Touring Screen + Helibars + Vstrom handguards

Post by dem »

Anyone have a combination that works at full lock on the medium helibars setting?

I have a CalSci barn door and it is no go. Either the helibars have to be all the way back (and then I can't use the tank bag) or the handguards hit the screen.

Hard to tell from pictures what would work or not work, given the angle/shape/etc. of the screens.

Yep. They should all work. Calsci must be an outlier. With my Cee Bailey, vstream 20308, Yamaha touring screen, and stock screen, with barkbusters (as obtrusive, I believe, as your handguards) and with the shield all the way down, and the bars in the middle position, nothing comes close to touching. Even in the middle bar position, there will be contact with any tank bag I’ve ever tried. But the shield should be good regardless.

Which Cee Bailey do you have? They appear to be discontinued but would be helpful to know how much wider than stock it is on each side.

The Vstream appears to be almost stock narrow vs. the bigger touring screens (from the picture below)

The Yamaha touring screen claims half inch wider.

Of the 3 touring screens, which one do you like the most for long trips?

Thanks

I find the Yamaha touring screen and the vstream 20308 to be almost even. I could easily live with either as the permanent shield for the bike (they’re both made by the same company.)

I don’t know the dimensions of my Cee Bailey. It’s the biggest one they offered. It is superb in cold weather. I like it for long trips, but unless it’s cold, I’ve gotten used to running the touring or 20308 even for long trips. When I get caught up, I’ll try to measure.

Dang, doesn't look like anyone offers anything similar to the Cee Bailey for the Gen3. I guess the 20308 is worth a shot.

I’ve tried the 20309 and the 20308. Personally, I think the 20308 and the Yamaha touring screen are as good as you can get these days. I’d lend you both if you were closer so you could try them. But I’m sure others have equal or better setups. I’ve never tried pfuig, because I don’t use gear I can’t pronounce, but some like it
