The Last Ride of my 68th Year - a Quick Devils Tower Loop

Post by bigjohnsd »

Another really odd day, 68F in Spearfish when I left home.
70F just west of Belle Fourche.
52F on the ridge between Devils tower and Sundance WY.
The NW wind came up on my way home on I-90.

A great way to round out my 68th year!

68????

I woulda guessed closer to 80. Still, not bad for an old fart like yourself. Congrats on the great weather for nice ride!

Way to go. It was a sunny 53 in North Dakota but no ride for me today as I was spending the exceptionally beautiful December day getting violated for my first colonoscopy.

Nice, John! Happy Birthday! Great weather, just over freezing here... the vacuum in Texas is sucking the jet stream south and the colder stuff with it.

Hey Scooter, your AARP card is in the mail.

Happy Birthday John.

If 68 was oh so great.
Imagine how fine it will be to do 69!!

(Bad Pants)

At 1:09 of the video, to the "right" side of you is what appears to be a dormant volcano. Is that a natural formation or something man made?

Hard to believe it was colder here than up there yesterday. Not by much, but indeed, a smidge colder.

Natural Formation - this link to google maps satellite image shows it better. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Sunda ... 04.3757816

So you turned 69 correct? If so, then this was the last ride of your 69th year and you are now in your 70th year. I know these things because I too recently turned 69 and my daughter has impressed upon me that this is my 70th year..... that and that she's the one who will pick my nursing home.

Should you doubt me, then think back to the year immediately following your birth and what happened at the end of the first year.... you had your first birthday party and then shit your britches. In a bit less than a year you will complete your 70th year and have your 70th birthday party.... chances are better than 50:50 that you will shit your britches again.

Lotta responsibility for a ship’s captain at sea. Especially if the ship’s carrying serious weaponry.

(John, ain’t no drill sergeants at USN Boot Camp. Of course, you didn’t go, so how would you know? :D)

Good on you John, looks a nice get out. I won't be able to get out on my 69th as I have had cataract surgery's the last two Wednesday's with a possible rework on the left eye this coming Wednesday.
All was not lost as I did get out for a nice ride a couple of days before the first surgery, and hoping for good weather after Christmas.
