Scotland May 2020

The plan is to fly to Glasgow on May 5th, arrive on May 6th, bus to Edinburgh, pick up the bike in Edinburgh on May 7th in the morning then ride clockwise around the coast of Scotland for 7 days, arriving back in Edinburgh on May 14th.
When I booked the accommodations in mid-September I had difficulty getting rooms in B&B's in Applecross, Durness and John O'Groats..most of the B&B's were fully booked - 7 months out!
All I have to do now are final tweaks to the route in basecamp..I'll wait until mid-April to upload it to the GPS.

Spousal Unit and I spent a week roaming around Scotland during one of our assignments in Germany. We were in a Fiat X-19 and returning for motorcycle tour is high on our list of dream trips. I imagine you will love it. A detailed trip report is in order. Our plan is to finish each day early and near a distillery.

OMG, a Fiat X-19! I rescued a red one from an accident (you just don't drive one in the winter, front end was very light, easily ditched)... drove it for 2 years. Meanwhile, have travelled all over Scotland mid-80's by car, always wanted to spend a couple of weeks there on a motorcycle. That would be awesome... back then we didn't pre-book any B&B's, except maybe the day before, never failed to find one.

Scotland and Ireland are on the list for SWMBO'd and I.

My dad loved Scotland. He's not much of a drinker, but did mention more than once that the best whiskey he ever tasted was all over Scotland.

I’d be more than happy to swear under oath that having watched you ride for many, many miles, there is no way in hell you could be speeding through those curves. -0face

Yeah Bob. Are you sure you aren't part of the Irving Clan in southwest Scotland?
