Re: Bike Cover

Post by FastPappy »

I always keep my bike covered since I park outside in the street, especially when I ride to work, even at home (no garage) so I've had so many different ones over the years. Some are lighter some heavier. Some last longer than others hard to remember which is which especially by the time they're warn out. Currently using I believe a Dowco Guardian. Seems pretty heavy duty. Not sure how long it will last but seems like it will go for a good while. YMMV. :)

I had the Nelson Rigg half cover. Worked well. Then I figured out the the Nelson Rigg full cover packs as small and covers everything.

Yep, that’s a Geza. Love it, but kinda spendy. Fortunately I got mine used from a member here several years ago. Not exactly light either, but it fits like a glove and doesn’t flap around when it gets windy.

Third...

It would be nicer if it were black though...

I've had a Dowco Guardian for 13 years. I used it on my Vulcan, and, now I use it for the FJR. I don't use it very often, however - only on trips and through the winter (in the garage). I think you'll be happy with the Dowco.

It you want to support products made in the USA, I recommend:

https://eztouring.com/motorcycle-covers/

I use the The Traveller Half Motorcycle Cover when I tour without the top case and it covers the upper 1/2 the bike.

$95.00 – $105.00

I use the The Wanderer Full Motorcycle Cover when I tour WITH the top case, as it completely covers the entire bike.

$115.00 – $122.00

I know, they are fairly pricey, but I've had my Traveller Half (in Red) for over 10 years and it has held up well. No rips or tears, or even sun fading (which is amazing for a red colored cover). I like to support Made in the USA products. ;)

YMMV

Wanderer B full size cover. Packs up small enough to go in a tank bag.

Geza's are kinda cool, nice stretchy custom fitting...... however, I decided I couldn't afford one. I did use this cover from Laminar Lip on the FJR for a few years, still have it, and it fits the Versys nicely.... if I can find a better way to secure it under the rear of the seat on this bike.... it is the stretchy Geza material. But it's like a bikini, it doesn't cover the whole bike. Note, on sale for $39!!
