Ride safe Duane and Mark.

I didn’t want to spend the money, but I ordered a replacement admore light bar and harness this morning. Being hit makes the absence of a big bright led bar back there kind of nag at me in traffic. :)

Rode my FJR to Key West and took this picture.

Fun day of riding with Nate. He got the bouy!

We left at 4:00 am so we could hit the bridges as the sun came up. Nice and cool in the keys. I think it might be the first time I have been to the keys and it was not hotter then Hell.

Pulled and shipped my rear shock (Ohlins YA-707) for service. Other items on the to-do list for February include servicing the front forks, air filter, spark plugs, and adding heated grips.

Received my replacement light bar from admore. Received my new yoshimurasani r77’s (insurance settlement). Forcing myself to wait to install until after warranty work. Confirmed warranty parts kit availability for my upcoming appointment.

Installed a Yuasa from Amazon to replace the dead Motobatt in the '07, so I could take it in for a state inspection this morning (this bike doesn't get ridden much). Bike ran like a scalded ape, so took the long way home from the inspection (it was a brisk 38) this morning. The Motobatt was tendered, but I think it was just too old (6 years old, maybe 7) and wouldn't hold a charge. I smell a new Yuasa in my '15's near future.

My 2011 still has the OEM Yuasa...
Still holds a charge and can supply enough current to start the bike easily but it seems that reserve capacity isn't great. Might get another year out of it. (Never sees a tender, just one or two top-up slow charges over the (long) winter.)

Though I didn't ride in 2019 due to my health issues, i just switched out the OEM Yaussa from my 09 this past summer so 10 years seems amazing to me. :D

Took a chance to ride since the weather in the south is good in its own weird way. Cold in the morning, 60 in the afternoon.

Pined for it. Worried about it. Appreciated it as I rode the tractor to and from the office.

I cannot like those last couple of posts.

Mine is in the garage and I have no good excuse for it not being ridden lately. Other than the MT09 has been getting the love.

Going to ride the FJR this weekend.

Might have to dodge the rain storms, but it will be warm.

Im gonna do some needed maintenance tomorrow, easy stuff that even Wayne could do. I hesitate to do it, cuz its so fricken cold in the garage...but I will do it anyways. Was gonna ride Sunday, but its wet and cold. Wet I can do. Cold I can do. Wet and cold I only do on a cross country trip.

Or if im with Duane headed to Paint Bank, VA.

Rode it. Cold and wet here. Still, pretty nice to have it back from warranty service. Okay, when I got it home from Freedom Powersports, I had to swap the troller over from Harley. Put the bags/handguards/topcases/ram mounts back on. Had to pull off the battery cover, as my heated gear leads were left neatly coiled on top of the battery during reassembly, and therefore inaccessible. Rear screw hole on battery cover was sporting a new screw. Once removed, it revealed the “collar” for that hole in the battery cover had disintegrated. That may well have been in progress or preexisitng and undetected, and not a function of the service. Rearmost screw in glovebox wasn’t there. Pretty sure it was when I dropped it off. Not positive. Small stuff. I just need to order those two parts. I can’t find anything else out of spec. The big stuff (and most everything else) seems to be in good order.

Oil level? Check. Coolant? Check. Shifting into and out of 2nd (and all the other gears)? Check. Spirited acceleration test through the gears? Check. Triple digit test? Check. All shifting is a little bit more of a snick, consistent through all the gears. No difference in any aspect of performance otherwise.

I put the battery tender on it yesterday. Pretty cold temps for the next few days.

Few months ago I decided to keep my FJR on battery maintainer between all rides. OE battery is 5 years old. Installed a voltmeter about the same time. Keep thinking I should verify with my Fluke but haven’t. Riding voltages fluctuate 13.6 to 14.5 more than I would have thought, but modern Subaru and F-150 have been wilder.

Hmmm...My voltmeter shows a rock solid number. It only varies when I activate the heated gear.

I use the voltmeter on the radar detector. It is displaying a voltage drop from the battery to the fuze block, followed by the wiring to the detector. None the less, it usually holds about 14.2-14.6. Original battery - 6-ish years old. It's days are numbered, I suppose.
