Hello from Wilmington DE

Post by rerfjr13 »

My name is Ray. I’m 64 years old. I am a long time Yamaha fan. In my day, I rode enduros, hare scrambles, scrambles and road bikes. I took 27 years off raising kids and then bought a Versys 650. I wanted to see if I still wanted to do it. That didn’t take long. Three years later I bought my 2013 FJR. It is an incredible bike.

Welcome! I was in Wilmington once with my truck driving uncle... that was a long time ago, the part of town we got stuck in with a semi...shall we say wasn't the best, but we had fun anyway.

Welcome Ray, you've got a fine motorcycle for sure.

We are gathering in Maggie Valley, NC on the weekend of September 20-23. Look for a thread on these boards entitled "EOM" for details. If you are interested in riding arguably the best American motorcycling roads east of the Mississippi River, and meeting about 75 of the best friends you will ever have, then pack your panniers and your GPS and join us!!

Now, don't over think this. You're 64 - this ain't your first rodeo in anything. But consider this - if not now, then when? You've done well. Raised what is most assuredly wonderful kids. You've made the sacrifices that we all make. You took many for the team. Like yourself, I waited decades to return to motorcycling for the benefit of my family. But like you, now it's my turn. My turn to get selfish with my time and my money. My turn to do what I've dreamed of doing. My turn to take a small risk and throw just a little caution into the wind. My turn to feel excitement in my fingers from the tingle of the handlebars. My turn to see the world through the unlimited view of my helmet visor. My turn.

And it's your turn too. Don't waste it.

Welcome from another '13 owner. They are the best bikes.

Enjoy yours to the max...see the country, all of it...and gain some friends along the way.

I have.

Ask questions...around here they are encouraged.
