Today, I got new rubbers!!!

(No.... not those kind of rubbers. Pants hasn't had a need for those in quite a while. My wife followed Bob Barker's advice and got her dog neutered. ;) )

New footpeg rubber tops for the bike. Blue lock-tite on the screws, of course. A minute with the soldering iron took care of that.

Decided to keep the old ones and hang them on the peg board. Almost 60K on the clock and I've ridden it enough to wear the foot pegs. It's kind of a rite of passage, for me anyway.

Also replaced the clutch pivot bushing that the clutch master cylinder pushes against. Mine was worn - not worn out, but worn and since I was ordering parts anyway....

Finally, gave the ole girl a proper bath after my recent 2900 mile tour. Put a little lipstick on the red pig and she looks presentable in the sunshine. Ready for SFO and more adventure.....

Good grief, I love this motorcycle. Without a doubt, this is the best bike I've ever owned. And I've had enough to know it when I got a good one. She won't last forever, and perhaps her end is closer than her beginning. But until then, I'll enjoy her just the same.

Nah, 60k has her barely broken in, especially with the maintenance regimen you have going on.

^ Yeah 60k on one of these is just barely past the break in period. I was hoping to reach 200k on that 2007.

Left her at home today. With the cooler weather coming, the bike with no electric gear connectors and ZERO wind protection, will be getting ridden less and less. Besides, I've had it a year and a half and my buddy that lets me ride all his bikes (and buy them from him and sell them back for a wash) hasn't ridden the GSX-S yet. So, I headed out into 46F temps knowing it would get better. Coffee and breakfast warmed me up and then back roads to the other side of the metroplex. He pulled out his superduke and we swapped bikes back and forth for a bit. He was impressed with the Suzuki and now he wants to add one to his garage if he can find one cheap. Good day, warmed up to 78F and I put about 240 miles on her.

I suspect it's only a matter of time before I have to winterize the FJR. Which of course means finding the coiled electric gear cord and swapping the summer shield for the winter shield. Woot!

Please let us know your experience with the auto train. I might use it in the future, depending.

BkerChuck wrote: Fri Oct 18, 2019 10:15 am Shifter pedal was where the trouble began. That T-50 torx fastener did not want to budge. Finally had to get out a breaker bar and use it. With my left wrist still hurting this is not what I wanted to do. Finally get it to move but I'm deathly afraid it's going to strip the threads. One I have it out just a couple of threads I can see it's got RED loctite on it. Did Yamaha seriously use RED loctite on these fasteners? Got out a micro torch and applied heat until it melted the loctite then proceeded. The other 4 bolts all had blue loctite and more of that than is necessary. I ended up chasing all of the treads with taps and dies before reassembly. Any one else run into this or am I unique in this regard? I don't think the PO ever had any of this apart based upon how stuff looks as I'm working on the bike.
That T50 bolt was crazy tight on mine as well. I was worried the torx head itself would strip, so I replaced it with a hex head bolt.

We did it several years ago. Good way to get out of FL when it's hot. Beats slabbing up I-95 during the summer. Put your bike on that afternoon. Eat,drink, sleep and you wake up in VA.

If I did it again I would just take it North and meander home on the bikes.

It was a fun experience.

On this day two years ago I was along Hwy 1 in California. Google made a nice video of this fine day.

So today I was reminiscing.

Rode about 140 miles north to have a burger with Ken the HD Guy. Then rode home, didn't get wet. Good day.

Ive used for the car before, but this year put the bike on it for a work conf in orlando in late march. I got the roomette, which is two seats that fold to a single bed with an over head bunk. Cozy enough with plenty room for gear, maybe cramped for two. Bathroom 10ft away. Had vacation from wed on that week and after spending a few days with friends rode the fjr home from fl to pa. Awsome trip

Highly recommend it.

How's the cost? I looked at it years and years ago and the price was not for the faint of heart.
