All it does is provide an interrupt signal that tells the ECU to turn off the cruise. The lights are the main purpose of the circuit, and cruise cancel is just tapped off of it. That's the only way they interact. As long as there is no power to the lighting circuit cruise should operate given normal conditions.

There are separate contacts for the lights and cruise. My lights were working fine but the cruise wouldn't engage.

My spin..... if the brake lights are on, or all that stuff works, the cruise won't engage or will disengage. The cruise light should not be flashing..... there's something else going on, more likely related to speed sensor signals not reaching the ECU, and of course it won't set speed. How about those codes, or disconnect the battery to reboot all the ECU's, then see what we got.

I saw DIA over DATA with numbers out beside almost all of them.
Not sure what I'm looking for but I didn't see 91 or 92."

Where is the speed sensor getting its signal?

Another question, off topic but related. What was changed in 2014 to eliminate the 81-82mph restriction limit on the 2013?

Speed is from the transmission middle drive assembly iirc.

The cruise limit is a few 1s and 0s in the ecu.

same ABS sensors used for cruise sensing.
Speedo, I think is ran off the tranny.

Im assuming, that why there's a million questions.

Sensors were cleaned as I stated earlier.

Still having intermitting flashing cruise light issues. Feel pretty sure "this time" it's the front brake switch.

Oddly, I can stop, turn the key on and off and the cruise will work as intended.

I have turned the key on, pressed the rear brake, no flashing but If I do the same with the front, sometimes but not all the time, the cruise will start flashing. This is done sitting still without the engine being started.

Again, intermitting. Some days it works perfect.

This started happening on my bike yesterday too. Like kieefjr mine is also intermittent. I chalked it up to having nearly the entire front harness apart during the rebuild a couple of months back, but it's weird because it just came out of nowhere. Has anyone had this happen and found the cure for it?

I had this happen when I disassembled my rear brake pivot and stuff. As noted above, there are two switches that have to be working properly for cruise to get the all-clear. in my case, the housing by the peg hadn’t seated, so that switch wasn’t clear.

If flashing, again, same old... switches intermittent/dirty/sticking pedal, ABS sensors minor corrosion, and.... new one, rear brake light relays (under the seat). The harness/connectors are robust enough not to be an issue IMHO.

Ive adjusted my pedal scores of times. Never needed to adjust anything to do with the switch or switch tension. Curious.

Recently had the flashing cruise light on my '15. Brake light was intermittently on, traced to the front brake lever. Took everything apart, cleaned up the old sticky [three year old] grease and lightly lubed the pivot point. Haven't taken the time to clear the ECU errors yet, but no issues with the cruise since.
