I heard you can use an actuator...
Our horse trailer had electric brakes, we would lock the wheels manually from the driver's seat. The tires would SCREAM and smoke without actually slowing down our truck. Helen loved doing that to alert some asshole jerk driver that he had made an error in his road skills.

After 6 months of PMS I have to knock off the rust, this morning I got to tuneup my situational awareness, braking skills, emergency planning, reaction speed and forgiveness to not perform an act of violence on someone that desperately needed it

Well, I didn't do anything to the FJR today (still gotta figger out how to strap a trombone to it) but I did get out for a quick 20 mile 'shake off the rust & PMS' ride last night before the Blue Jackets game. The ride helped to scub in the front tire a wee bit as well.

Nothing, but I saw it in the shed last night. Waiting patiently for me to install the battery and take it out for the maiden voyage of 2019.

Might be this weekend as they calling for rain for the next two days which will wash a bunch of salt and sand off the roads.

Today I discovered that my intermittent right fork low mounted LED light has a broken wire right where it exits the weather pack connector. Due to the location I'll have to replace the whole connector. Of course it is in a difficult to access location  The left light is still OK -- so far, so good.

Looking at where I had secured the wires with tie wraps, the wires were a victim of the ES upside down forks. If I had conventional forks where I secured the wires there wouldn't be any wire movement, but with the ES forks the movement is happening at the bottom so that it flexed the wires at the connector every time the forks moved. Wires can only be flexed so much before the metal starts to work harden then it fractures. I just hate self inflicted wounds  There may be a lesson in this for some of youse other guys.

Rode it.....no wait....rode an FJR to work but not mine......

Coworker and fellow FJR owner had rotator cuff surgery and some additional tendon repair work on his right shoulder and will be laid up most if not all of this riding season. He was considering selling his '06 and giving up riding but after some thought and consideration had decided to keep it and see how the rehab goes. He hated letting his bike sit all this time as he'd only ridden it twice last year. Friday I dropped off my Buell and rearranged his garage for him to create some additional space and took his FJR home with me until he's healthy enough to get it back. Until further notice I now have 2 FJRs at my disposal and will ride his bike for work through the week and mine on the weekends for fun.

I admire the personal sacrifice that you are making to help out a fellow FJRider. And best yet, you aren't even charging him for the service you are providing.

Torn rotators are balls. I tore the shit out of mine about 3 years ago in the spring. Went to doc, she said it will probably need surgery which meant the summer got blown up for riding. She suggested I try PT. I went to the first one. The PT said I needed surgery as they didn't think it would help.

Ya, f@$k that.

I YouTubed rotator cuff exercises and commenced to hurting myself. Guess what, I still do the exercises occasionally and have nearly full range of motion and where I don't , it only matters in the shower. But I'll tell you this, if I ever get taken down by the police and they give me the behind the back arm crank, I'm done for.

Yep, sprained my rotator a couple of times, the first one bad. Just do the PT, it will indeed do wonders.

My friend had quite a few years in the military and has had a variety of interests in his life. He showed me the pics the surgeon had taken of his shoulder and the torn tendons. It looked like some kind of sea creature in there with all of the loose ends floating around. Surgeon told him there were only about 6 strands of tendon left holding his bicep in place and the next injury likely would have torn those as well leaving him in even worse shape. I've known Bill for more than 12 years and he's a great guy, would do anything for anybody so I hate seeing him go through this. He was really down about not being able to ride and was really thinking about selling his FJR. I helped him find this bike for sale in the other sandbox several years ago when his BMW was broken down, again, and his wife finally told him "Go buy one of those bikes that Chuck rides! I never hear about his bike being in the shop!"

Bike came from a forum member over there in Ohio who was getting back into dirt riding and not using it anymore. He actually rode it to Pittsburgh to meet us halfway between our home and his own. It's been a great bike and I'd hate to see Bill give it up and regret it in a few months once he's healthy. With any luck and some rehab I'm hoping to get him to come along to EOM. In the meantime I'll make sure his bike gets PA state inspection when it's due and keep it maintained for once he's ready.

I can relate Nd wish your buddy well. I have a left frozen shoulder I'm dealing with now that over the last few months got worse. Even though i was abke to ride home from my work conference in orlando i will most likely skip CFO and try to do home theopy and make EOM. My issue is mostly my bicep and twisting and reaching behind my back. It sucks but at least the MRI was clear, nothing torn. It does feel better the more i work it so i just need to grin and deal with the pain.

But i still ride the fjr. After all, we all have priorities.

22 years ago, our station wagon with luggage carrier trekked from Tampa Bay to Orlando to the Kennedy Space Center. The front of our station wagon and luggage carrier was a black coating of mush by the time we got to the east coast.
