I looked at it while pondering a trip in June 2020 to my base station in Rapid City, SD then Devils Tower, Needles Hwy, etc over 10 days.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Yep I made it home around 1:30 am last night, but not on that tire. It was on a set of 4 Goodyear Eagle GT's. My son Tom, bless his heart, took about 10 hours out of his normally scheduled Sunday programming to bring my truck up and recover the old man. I was bored and clowning when I posted that photo, no way I was going to chance that for 200+ miles. That tire carried me cross country in July so it's life was nearly pure slab, I think it gave me just short of 10 k miles. The last few hundred were the most fun even if it did bring it to a shockingly rapid end. Famous last words, the tire was fine when I left the house on Friday, don't have a clue where all that rubber disappeared to. I'm going back to a PR2 rear this time.gixxerjasen wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 6:39 pm Anyone heard from NTXFJR? Did he make it home on that tire?

For future reference, in a pinch, a 1/8" slug of Shoe Goo over the cords allowed to cure overnight will get you 150 miles at 50 mph fully loaded with camping gear and heavy bags.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Back tires really seem to fall off fast on an FJR. Looks decent one day then you are on cords.
All my long trips are at about the same time of year. So I generally get a new set right before that happens.
Luckily, I have never pushed one too far.
In fact I usually end up throwing 10-20% away.

Rode it to work again this morning. Right at the freezing mark and still a half hour before the sun comes up. Frost on the cars but not on the road. Winter isn't here yet but getting close. 50-50 chance of accumulating snow by Halloween and we can pretty much count on not seeing the ground from late November to late March.

Walked past it to get in my truck, going to rain here later today and I just washed the crud off the bike Monday. Changed oil and filter and FD oils last night. Getting ready to pack for SFO.

No riding since last Friday. I don't suspect any riding till at least the weekend. Its been raining and cold. Were in the end stretch where you might get out once or twice a month before the long white.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Got the FJR all packed up, got me all geared up to go on a fall foliage photo shoot before the impending Nor Easter comes along tonight and tomorrow and rips things apart. Ready for a sunrise ride I turned the key on and -- nothing. The prince of darkness has visited my FJR sometime over the last few days. A quick prod with my meter shows 4.65 volts, that is about as dead as it gets. It's hopefully recuperating under the watchful care of my smart charger. I'm sure it is caused by the spirit of Halloween and the prince of darkness playing a prank on me. Heaven knows, it couldn't be from me leaving my unswitched GPS on.

Had to run a couple of towns over to where there's a good real old barber shop. Was chilly, in the 50's so I had to go find the liners for the mesh suit, but I got a ride in and blew the cobwebs off the old girl.

I have certainly done just fine on the Cherohala and Wayah Rd and Rt 28 on racing slick front tars. Have the photos to prove it.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Siphoned two gallons of gas out of the FJR, then road it to gas station with non-ethanol fuel, added a bit of stabil and filled it up. Road it home then changed the oil. My riding season is likely done until April.
It was a nice day here today and I would have taken it for a ride but other chores needed doing. I mowed the lawn and changed the rear differential fluid in my Honda CR-V AWD. The forecast is for rain and cooler weather for the next few days.

I forgot to mention, for my ride this morning to the barber, I had to actually think really hard about where I stashed my liners for my air glide suit many months ago. Was a bit nippy in the 50's in Texas today.
