I checked the earl and pressures. Going wandering today. Perhaps Brasstown Bald and Suches. Then back home to make chili.

Skyway won out. Went until it was snowy then came back down.

I look forward to the time when I can set out on an ordinary Wednesday to see Brasstown Bald via Suches, and then at the last minute divert north to Telico Plains....

Got halfway across? I get a little jittery on high-speed sweepers when there is a possibility of total loss of traction.

I kept going on Christmas Day, was a little sketchy where the Jeeps knocked snow out into the road.

Nice video, thanks for posting. Yer almost as fast as that guy that has the helpful FJR technical advice website. Kudos.

Seriously though, nice run through the snow. Ignore the previous comment about being as bad as the guy that crashed on the straightaway that he thought was a curve.

You should make FJR technical advice videos for a living.

At the end of the video, was that black ice on the road? Or just some liquid moisture?

I don't think I've ever seen black ice on a roadway.

Just moisture, the air temp at the time was around 37 or 38 at the highest elevation. As soon as you dropped in elevation you were back in the low 40's.

Showed it to a visiting cousin and his son.
The cousin helped his son fix up an 82 Suzuki 750...the kid seems levelheaded, unlike his dad who seems liable to try ANYTHING and has the scars to prove it. Son wants to take his first motorcycle trip to WNC with a buddy. Problem...they live in Lincoln, Nebraska. He is asking how many days he should take to get to WNC. I ask him how long the total trip is...he says he has a week plus weekend. I gave him some advice...he got the adventurin bug from his dad, and his mom seems to be the one with the common sense in the family. My cousin seems to think that if you didn't get scars from something, you weren't trying hard enough.

I sure hope he takes advice from you and not his dad.

You may recall that a few years ago, my nephew approached me about riding. I had a blast showing him the ropes and I'm pleased to say that he is a very good rider.

Regardless, had your cousin's son come to me with his questions, my first answer would be that setting out for 9 days 1/2 way across the country on a 24 year old motorcycle for your first tour is a recipe for disaster. One step at a time, Grasshopper. Once you've dipped your toes, we can talk about swimming.

I've got too much going on tomorrow - we are throwing wifey a retirement party. Otherwise, I'd ride to NOLA and buy you lunch, Bill.
