Picked up a gorgeous 1 owner 2014 with only 7600 miles on it to replace the 07 that TN twatwaffle destroyed for me at EOM. I need to get a rear tire for it and commence farkling!

Most of the issue getting forks apart is the upper bushing which is an interference fit into the tube. Use some heat in this area to expand the casting, before slide hammering the bushings/seal out. You can re-use upper bushings most of the time as they don't wear much. The middle bushing basically gets destroyed removing it. The Lower is always worn out.

Good man that Griff. Yesterday I was at work and sneezed. I thought it triggered a heart attack. It passed, but now, ever time I hic-cup it feels like I got shot in the chest.

At least yours attributable to your get off. Me, I attribute to getting old.

Pulled rear wheel and took it to a small local shop and got a new tire put on. They had a Shinko rear in stock they'd ordered for a customer who then never showed so they have me a reasonable deal. Reinstalled wheel after pulling FD and lubing splines which were completely dry. Rode bike down to them and got my system inspection done. Ordered real-time industries saddlebag reflective decals. Installed my Laam seats and my heavy bar end weights.

Awesome you found a bike Chuck!

You know I think those Real Time decal are a most on every FJR. You never know when you might get stuck riding in the dark. All other farkles are optional according to taste, need and budget.

I didn't do jack to my FJR today other than looked at it when I got out my house generator during a power outage today. To top it off we had our first snowfall for winter 2019/2020 season today, breaking or equaling a 93 year record for early snowfall. Shite!

Next week I am going to buy a snow blower.

Started going over some of the known FJR stuff on the new to me 2014. Saddlebag lock screws were only finger tight. Removed, applied loctite, and reinstalled. Downloaded owners manual to my tablet since bike didn't have one. Pulled the bolts for the relay arm at the dog ones and greased the needle bearings and spacers thoroughly. They were almost bone dry. Put my fuse block under the pillion seat but didn't wire it yet. Ordered a techmount stem adaptor for my Zumo. Took Dianne to Cycle Gear for replacement boots, in the car as she's still too sore to get on the bike. Ordered 2 new helmets from Revzilla. No riding today but busy AF! Almost forgot, took my SR 357 rack to my work so I can bead blast and repaint it tomorrow.

Rode 460 miles the long way home from the IBA BAT Rally in Denison today. Met up with Tony - 101stpathfinder at the banquet last night and rode along with him to Shreveport on his way home. He did a BBG to get there yesterday, then is doing another one to get home today. Don't know how he does it. He's working on doing 100k this year and has only 6 or 8 BBG's left to make it.

If you hurry up and click on the Spotwalla link, you might catch him before he gets home lol.

It was pretty cool meeting the IBA staff as well as some awesome hardcore asphalt shredders. One of the coolest stories for me came from the guy that finished the IBR on a Harley and sidecar. He brought his wife and daughter along with him!

Rode it to work! Started raining about 4 miles from work but I didn't care. Gives me a reason to wash the new bike now.

Right you are Sir, the right side is harder to change than the left. the rubber boot is a bugger! Thanks for the encouragement, lol !!

Should have mentioned this a few days ago. Some of you have probably dealt with the Yamaha Soft Key issue. I have read that it's not the key, it's the saddlebag locks are too stiff, it's poor maintenance, it's really Your Fault...

I take good care of my FJR. My key is soft, it gets bent, it's wearing funny. It's not my fault, it's soft metal. I have tried going to my local dealer with the key code that COMES WITH THE KEYS from the factory and they tell me that they cannot do anything with that code. I have to buy a key blank from them and take it "somewhere that makes keys".

What is that stupid key code for then?

Anyway, went online to keys4urride and ordered an Ilco replacement key. Entered the key code that came with the keys originally. 3 days later I received a new key, already cut that really works that I think is of harder/better material than my Yamaha key. It ended up costing me over $17 with shipping but I got it.
