Tom - were the timers on for your most recent trip to the strip, and if so, what were your E/Ts?

I'm kind of surprised you chose to heat up your rear tire for the launch. Maybe there was no "stick'em" on the launch pad? Did you turn the traction control off?

Oh, BTW, I'm not a commuter...but I did dodge the stills and meth labs and rode the FJR in to work today. Did not get hit by any whiskey bottles thrown out of that black rusty pickup truck. I dodged real goooood.

There was a ton of "stick em" on the track, but I have enough torque that the rear wheel spins out if I don't modulate the power. I think Gen I might have a bit more power to the rear wheel, but it's possible the Gen III traction control might launch more efficiently. Using motorcycle tires is the problem, they are pretty narrow, and do better in turns than drag strip launches. No timers. The track has been open and available, so I'm using it as free training to learn to do this a bit better, and am finding techniques that work better than others. A full-on power take-off lacks grip, and a good strong launch with increasing throttle out of the hole works best.

Rode it to work after a quick conversation with a Georgia State Patrol motor officer. After informing me that I was riding considerably faster than the posted speed limit, he heard my explanation, noted my grey hair/glasses/ATGATT/etc, and told me it was a holiday Monday with no traffic.

"You'll get there on time for your 9 am meeting even if you go the speed limit. Let's ride safely, OK?"

"Yes, sir, and thanks."

He said he'd been a GSP motor officer for almost 5 years, and rides 8 hours a day in good weather. In bad weather, he rides 8 hours a day in a souped up Dodge Charger.

Putt, putt, putt in the slow lane for another 5 miles, but my wallet is intact. And I am envious of the miles he puts in the saddle.

Without photos, didn't happen. Sorry.

Next time, have your speed ticket bonus photo framed properly, with middle finger extended.

25 points would have been awarded for a proper photo presentation.

FYB/Intech came over and we checked the 06 valves. All in spec, changed the cam chain tensioner.
Throttle body synch and new coolant.

He did say something like WTF he was doing helping me when he could be riding on a 70 degree Feb day!

Rode it instead of using the cage this morning. 36 degrees when leaving home, a bit cooler when arriving at those 4 walls that pay the bills, parking lot had a slight glaze on it from the overnight fog and now it cooled a bit, yep it's a bit slippery.

Will need to fill up on the way home, that' the earliest that I have gone through a full tank this early in the year.
