I rode mine to work! First time in forever, been using the DR650 for my work commute. It was nice to have Power to Accelerate. Traffic was heavy so I could not really play but still enjoyed it.

I am always impressed with the Goodness of my FJR after I have been riding other motorcycles.

I'm rushin' around Burlington regularly, it's just down the road. To get serial for a sec, somebody named G twisted my arm a year or so ago, but Ivan wasn't then doing ECU's with immobilizers until he discovered all the FJR ECU's had them, just not activated in US bikes. He has a workaround for immobilizers now, so when the opportunity came, I went for it.
The performance is cleaned up everywhere in the rpm range, the fuel cut is eliminated, cruise limitations, ignition timing slightly more advanced (thus his recommendation to use 89 octane), cooling fans are set to come on at a slightly lower temp, and you get a third mode in between T and S, I'd say slightly leaning toward S or taking the edge off S.
If you can call it a downside, and you have to just accept it, when cold starting, rpm will be higher around 2000 during warmup and warmup takes a couple of minutes longer (due to cooler fuel mixture), but it drops to normal idle after that.
Madmudder and I both used 87 octane exclusively on the trip to CFR this year, lots of different riding conditions so we could evaluate... no pinging at any time, no effects on performance or mileage over the longer haul, we did notice the cooling fans came on when we pulled in somewhere for a gas stop, etc. No biggie.
Just personal opinion, I never felt with the Gen3 I "needed" the flash, just curious if it did what G was crowing about. It does. I'd just say it cleans up smaller stuff I never even thought about before, all kool. Let your wallet do the talking.. G is another guy who is ruining my life, what can I say. To make it worse, some Tracer guys are saying the flash available for the 900 triple does wonders.... another side effect of FJRPittsburgh ruining my life.

Always happy to help Ray! You asked and I provided the feedback...glad the ECU flash is working for you.

I generally run mine in the third mode. Nicely put when you say "performance is cleaned up everywhere in the rpm range" that pretty well describes the bikes behavior now. I've also run a few tanks of 87 through mine and haven't had any pinging. I do follow Ivan's suggestion and use 89 the majority of the time.

Rode my coworkers '06 to work. He's happy to see it's at least being used. I'm hoping his shoulder is rehabbed enough to get him back on it before the end of riding season here. Rotator cuff surgery must suck.

My father had it done. Awful. I thought i would need to have it but turns out nothing is torn but have frozen shoulder. I will not descibe what is typically done to "cure" it but needless to say it's 4 months of therapy in 2 minutes. I passed and work the shoulder daily in my normal routine. It's much improved but will take another year most likely to be almost normal. I can live with that.

More importantly, i wasn't sidelined from riding for 4 to 6 months.

Rode it to work and played some with the Garmin 595. I am not a gps audio guy and certainly not a comms/Bluetooth guy but Ken the HD Guy and I will be riding in the big city in a couple weeks and having audio sure makes it easier. I re-routed the audio cable to pop out from under the plastics at my right thigh so I can just plug in to it with my MP3 earbuds for turn directions and still have music if I want from the SD card in the gps. Works perfectly!

Rode it on a bunch of errands. Back to 3rd on Saturday so riding to work will be out for the next two weeks. Really hoping the Gateway Project makes rush hour traffic less dangerous and treacherous but that may be wishful thinking....

Washed it. Packed it up for this year's Big Trip. Leaving in the morning for the Black Hills of South Dakota. Pop's '14 is all clean, shiny and packed to go also.

Supposed to be a Harley involved in this too. I pray this all works out and makes for a decent Ride Report.
