Spin, I was at Brookside last Saturday but they had no motorcycle class so I left.

Just finished throttle cable install and buttoned everything back up. Discovered I broke the little hose nipple off the bottom of the air box for that small breather hose with what appears to be a small filter in thr hose. Tried to repair the broken nipple to no avail. Used jbweld and blocked off the hole in the airbox. Hoping this doesn't created any issues but after a little research I think it'll be okay.

Eric,

Who's on first.
:)
Yes he a belted a liner to the left corner, so who's on first, I'm on second with I wanna be on third rounding off the bases. :D

Ok rode it to work the past two days! Had a guy come over on top of me yesterday while I was in the middle lane on the way home. Unfortunately riding to work requires about 60 miles of slabbing it one way. I had just moved over to the middle after seeing him coming up behind me. Next thing I know I'm looking at his fender like a foot away! Dang!! I roll off and swerve over to the right one more time and watch him slowly correct back into his own lane. I honestly don't think he had a clue i was there!

Thanks Eric

Rode mine to work this today to see how the new throttle cables felt. Need to adjust the slack a little bit more. Ordered a used airbox off eBay since I'd really prefer to have my bike right and that broken nipple repaired with jbweld isn't right so I'll correct the problem.

What happened to your throttle cables? Never had to replace one on either FJR. Replaced a clutch cable on a Roadstar once.

First valve check we failed to loosen and move the throttle cables out of the way. We stretched them pretty badly manhandling the cam cover off and then back on. I had no adjustment left in them. Operator error all the way. If I learn from my mistakes I'll soon be an FJR genius.

BkerChuck,

In the past, I have repaired broken nipples like that with an equally long aluminum pop-rivet. There's a little skill needed, but I set the rivet normally, then pressed a 1/16" (1,5mm) music wire (slightly longer than the rivet) down through the rivet to drive out the expander-ball. I suppose you could drive the music wire rod with a small hammer; I used long-nosed Vice-Grip pliers to press the rod through. One jaw was on the bottom of the rivet, and one jaw pressed the rod down. Once the ball was almost out, a final tap down on the rod dropped out the ball. Once the ball comes out, you have a new (aluminum) nipple set in place. Sealing it in place with clear epoxy might be a good idea too. I loves my JB Weld, but you have to make it look neat after about 40 minutes, and you can't do that much later.

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.
Yeah, I ride motorcycles. I know why dogs put their heads out of the car windows.
Yeah, I fly hang gliders (3000 hrs.+). I know why the birds sing.

Red, I thought about that yesterday while I was at work and might still save that airbox. I found a complete assembly on eBay delivered for less than $15 so I'm going that route.

Rode it for the first time in 10 days. It was not comfortable, but it was a ride. Got the cast guy to contour the cast for a bar. Clutch excruciating, but with proper technique, I have this.

If you ever wanted to meet a real life Iron Man, get with Wheaton. I broke one insignificant bone and it’s unpleasant. He had about half of his supporting structure broken and powered through. And is riding. Raise a beer to the wheat. I may catch up to him soon. I am not registered for EOM, but if I can figure out a way to clutch comfortably, I just might register so I can drink a beer at the tiki bar with Wheaton, jwilly, and the rest of the Inglorious Basterds.

Not that I ever needed an excuse to drink a beer....

Rode the coworker's 2006 today. Hoping to go home and start wrenching on mine to change the relay arm and install a new Gen 3 rear shock. Depends just how stinking hot it is when I leave work.

Since the over under on this board for peeing oneself is about 8 days, that's not really going out on a limb there Mr Lumberg. However, I would have enjoyed the levity...even if it meant coworkers asking, "What's that smell?"

Walked past her while doing all the chores I put off while diving in the Keys the last three weeks.

Felt really bad about her sitting there with all those bugs all over her, but managed to power through the guilt by reminding myself that I did fix her front forks and fixed her broken front stay, AND bought a new Time Out camper for her to pull, AND I am installing electric brakes on said Time Out camper, so I can pul the camper with an Inverter Generator and Air Conditioner on top of it, so we {me and the FJR, and the wife if she's good} could ride a LOT this fall. All that helped with the guilt.

Hopefully, I will clean her up before EOM if I get to go.
