sorry but I have not used them. I installed two eye-bolts on the back tag...one on either side and above the license plate on the sort of black angular area on the plastic. I painted them flat black and you don't even notice them when they are not holding down a tie-down. Between those and the passenger peg mounts I'm set. The eye-bolts also make a nice point to run a locking cable through to secure my tail bag, jacket, helmet if need be. Could someone remove the nut from the eye-bolt? Sure but they'd need tools so it is a good deterant which is all I'm looking for.

I have seen them on a few bikes... I just felt that I didn't really need them.
It could be if I can't pack it inside my hard cases I don't take it.
