I still like the Beemers...AAAAND they don't come with a stupid lookin' sticker on the tank. Looks like a nice bike but I'm always iffy about first couple-o-year production stuff.
So what do you guys think? Will the Tenre come to the USA or remain a Euro only model?

Ah, thank you sir. I missed the link. I've sent emails to the three contacts listed, but the Dipko (is that his REAL name?!) guys emails bounced back. I'll also call them again today. I've written 2 letters so far to toss their way via snail-mail.
Can you guys guess I'm interested in this bike?:![]()
Yes... be here for 2011..... Ive read they are going to be told they are bringing them to Canada next week sometime... Im watching that to see if thats real... Ive also read that Mexico is going to get them aswell..... You can read 2600 post on the Advrider.com under BEAST and then Super Tenere..... VERY COOL reading if you like the bike... .LOL
Im going to be the first to slap my money down for one.... Looking forward to it...

There's an excellent review of the Super 10 here: Clicky
One of the exciting revelations to me was the price factor...actually cheaper than a GS1200, at least oversees.
If it comes stateside, I will have one.

MamaYamaCanada's facebook page is hinting their going to introduce some new vehicles next week, both two wheeled and four. Scuttlebutt is the Tenere is among them. Not in for one, but I'd sure like to try one out.

Wuz up bud........
I would guess when it comes here it will be in the FJR price range. It will probably be like the first year FJR too where its order only....
Only negative Ive kinda been reading about are the factory bags... They look like they are aluminum but they are plastic... apparently it only takes a slight fall to break them :-( Ill get some Tour Tech panniers and make my own mounting kit if they dont offer one by then.... I'm 100% sure that Tour Tech has bought the new S10 and is developing parts as we speak now.
Also the front skid plate mounting tabs areand week... If / when I get mine im going to machine some new ones up to offer other S10 owners...
Looking forward to the new bike.....

We're already calling it an S10? Like those old crappy Chevy small trucks? You guys are ruining it for me. Just a thought, but for the money, why not just get the Multistrada put some knobbies or dual-sport tires on it and call it a day?
Brand new bike and it's gonna need new bags, and new skid plate mounts? The aftermarket guys are gonna love this bike (No offense No One, as I know you take good care of us.) Why can't Yamaha offer a 20thousand dollar bike that doesn't have to be farkled to death to be road/trail worthy?

I'm willing to bet the Super-10 ( there, feel better LOL ) won't cost more than 12-13 thousand. This still puts it 6-8 thousand less than the MTS.
It won't be more than a KTM. BMW or Ducati of simlilar type.
No one in the U.S. going to pay 20 thousand for a Yamaha. Just ask Honda.
For sure,, like SLK50 said.. It will probably be the same price as the FJR... I think for most people the normal bags will be fine im sure.. But for me I would really like to use the bike, and I know its going to be on the ground in its life so I would like some hard core Tour Tech type bags... LOL Like the bike, not a have too, but a 'want'... LOL What the heck do I know, never even seen one in real life.. LOL But sure would love to have the opportunity to buy one for sure....
With the Multi strada... That is a bad ass bike no doubt.. But the maintenance will eat most customers lunch... Also, if someone where to ride the bike "enduro" and start breaking parts.. good luck with Ducati having them in stock and then you better get ready for some STICKER SHOCK on parts... LOL Very cool bike, but everything is allot more expensive and a much smaller dealer network....
Would not like to ride it cross country and be on a trail in Montana or North Dakota and have a Ducati part break... Gooooooooooooooood luck with finding a Duc dealer with the part to get you home... LOL
I'm sure you could find some type of Yamaha dealer that sells snow mobiles or generators that could over night a Yamaha part in if ya had too..... That's just my thought.....

BMW GSA1200 (in production 6 years or so) vs. this one...I'll stick with my beemer. She can take a drop and a little sanding and some flat black krylon and she looks like new. She handles nice on the highway and in the twisties, good on dirt roads/tracks that I ride (not an MX Bike), I have to say I'm smitten. It seems to me that the Super 10 is a bit more street oriented w/o adequate protection. I wouldn't try some of the things I try on my beemer on one of those, too expensive to repair the dents, dings, scratches, etc.
Maybe a little more on par with a regular GS1200? (not that that's a bad thing)
Assuming the rumors are true, and the Super-Ten comes to the US, I'll bet it steals 50% of Beemer's GS market share.
I do like the GS1200, but BMW's hit-or-miss quality record scares me. In the end, comparing the two bikes will be like comparing the FJR & K1300. Would you pay $4k extra for the same performance, and a good chance of drive shaft failure?

Always take the long route.
I would tend to agree in regards to the pricing. However, the Super Tenere - if it comes to the US will be the most advanced bike in Yamaha's line up. Unless the FJR gets a redesign in the next year (unlikely IMO) The Tenere will serve as a halo bike, and may command a higher-than-expected sticker price. Yamaha may also sell the First Edition version that is farkled out for far more than a base model, without an option of buying the base bike-unfarkled.
I wonder at what point in 2010 -if the Tenere comes to the US- Yamaha USA will announce it? I remember back in July 2007, Kawasaki USA announced the Versys would be brought stateside for sale starting the next month. I don't know how Yammay handles things like that.
News Update:
No Tenere announced today from Yamaha Canada. The only new 2 wheeled vehicles for 2011 are the FZ8 and the Fazer 8 (faired version of the FZ8) .
If history is any indication, if we didn't get it, chances are slim to none you guys won't either.
Sorry.

Are you saying Canada got the FZ8 and Fazer 8?
Well I guess I wasn't clear enough (?!)
Maybe this will help. Yamaha Canada

Yeah, after looking at the FZ8, I can't understand why anyone would want that bike. It's a sleeved, non-adjustable suspension FZ1.
Yamaha USA: 'We've decided to bring the FZ8 into the North America instead of the Super Tenere as everyone wants, and as the email and phone calls clearly show. Long-term market viability indicates that teasing the customer and then taking him out back and kicking him in the balls are the best ways to gain motorcycle marketshare in the North American market.

I'd still be worried about dumping it and breaking something. My 1200 GS Adventure doesn't have that issue. I put her down for a dirt nap, she gets up happy...I put her back down, she gets back up...you get the idea. GREAT crash protection on her. The Yamaha, not so much.
When is the Yamaha dealer show that debuets the 2011 models?

AND...the Yammie has a two-sided swingarm. Why anyone would put their faith in a one-sided arm if going fire roading is beyond me.[/QUOTE]
It's worked for thousands of people before me.
I'm not much of one to buy something when it FIRST comes out anyhow. I'd rather they work the bugs out first. BMW isn't perfect but they're proven on LOOOOOOOOOOONG trips the world over. I'd have to give the Super 10 a couple of years and see what the aftermarket guys come up with by way of farkles.
Its been said that Yamaha has been working on this bike for four years.... Its been at there facility in Japan for about a year.. Ive got a picture, but who knows, I got it off the net..... LOL
The farkles are already pouring out of Europe and Australia... There are several exhaust ready to, or just about in the next few weeks... Tour Tech has a bike in Europe and they are doing there 'thing'... those dudes are going to have pages of parts within a few months....
I CANT WAIT to slap down my cash money......... LOL

Patch308: Since you and I both ride dirt, and not just talk about riding dirt, what puts me off most about the Super Tenere 1200 is it's massive weight.
If Yamaha truly wanted to take over the market that our BMW GS's dominate, they should of been pushing for a bike that weighed 500 lbs., not 615 lbs.!!!
Don't get me wrong, I do love Yamaha quality and pricing, I have owned Yamaha since my 2 1976 RD400's; the green one was my street bike and red one was my track bike. But with the type of dirt bike rides in the Southwest and Mexico we "dos Hombres" do: Tenere's weight's a true off road "killer"!!!
Guess I'm having a bit of a hard time imagining throwing around 575 # on loose dirt.....maybe it's just me?
Change, inevitable....Progress, optional

I'm with you, Jaxon. Down payment is just waiting for MamaYamma's announcement.
After looking at the specs, I was initially put off by the weight, also. But, if you go over to ADVRider and check out the comparisons done by at least 3 riders who own both, the concensus is that the Tenere's weight is lower and more compact than the GS1200. That makes it easier to handle - both on-road and off.
Check out some of the S-10 off-road footage from Australia; it impressed me!
