    Default 2010 FJRiders.com Mileage tracker & contest

It's January 1st, 2010, about 25 degrees out here in Michigan, the neighborhood street is clear of ice & snow enough to get out to the main road.

    I rode today, did you?

In 2009, the 18 participating members logged 236,742 miles for an average of 13152.4 miles per rider. Year round class leader was JamesK with 31,391 miles logged, followed by HualinAshe posting 28,477 miles. The Seasonal class leader was TriggerT with 21,199 miles with Reaper posting 14,907 miles. Congratulations!

    Same guidelines for 2010.

    - There will be 2 categories, “Seasonal Riders” and “Year Round Riders”.
“Year Round Riders” will be your total mileage for the year.
“Seasonal Riders” will be 6 consecutive months of your choosing.

    - Starting Point: At your start of the contest you must take a picture of your odometer with a cell phone or news paper in the same picture showing the date. Once you post the picture that will be your official start.

    - Mileage updates should be posted up on a monthly or bi-monthly basis using the same method as your starting point. Mileage will be tracked via a google docs spreadsheet as updates are posted.

Here's an example of a starting point picture:

And here's an example of an update picture:

Now get out there and Ride!!

I'm in, but I just can't get motivated enough to want through the 150 yards of 18" deep snow to get back to my shop[ to take a picture. I will be in on the seasonal again, so I'll hold off on the picture until I know I will be able to start putting on some miles on a regular basis anyway.

Thanks for doing this Wayne. Lot's of fun.

I guess I'll play this year. I must admit that I was a bit surprised at how low the winning numbers were. I didn't participate in the past because I didn't think I put very many miles on the FJR compared to others here, but apparently, that's not the case.

Hell, I've already riden yesterday and today for a total of about 150 miles. It was a tad cold today, though. I never saw the temp get above 28.

I know the cell phone is hard to read, but it reads Jan 2, 2010. I tried several times and couldn't get a better picture with my shitty camera.

Sounds like it should be pretty easy for you to win in 2010 then. Good luck to ya.

I didn't say that. Last year the FJR was my only bike and I put about 24K on her (I didn't keep track, but in 2 years she's got 48K). This year, I don't expect to put as many miles on the FJR because I have another bike now, but who knows, I might ride more than usual.

Funny thing is, I never went more than 400 miles from home. I need to get out more. Maybe I'll start riding down to Florida to ride with JamesK instead of the other way around.

I don't expect to match the real LD riders here, but I'll go on record. And being from Austin, there's no excuse not to ride all year.

Well, if the guy looking to buy my house ever gets off his ass and gets his financing in order, my commute could be cut down to about 20 miles round trip. Plus if I am going to be able to sell my place and build a new home, ALL, 100% of my riding plans are on hold. I will need vacation time for things related to the move.

So come on, join the fun. See how bad you can beat up on my mileage.

If I had done this Monday it would have been just under 38K.

What the hey, I'll do year-round this time. I might get 15k miles. Maybe. I got a feeling funds are gonna be tighter this year than they were last year.

    Default Update: Extrememarine

You'd never know it was the 21st of February in Michigan today...

    And appropriate update picture:

Note to self; Brand new Avon Azaro rear tire + 38 degree ambient temperature + 6k rpms + 2 of the 5 total curves in Michigan = drifting 101...

    Gosh, I love this bike...

We've had a few nice days so I've gotten in a few good miles, mostly putzing around making sure to take my time to work the cobwebs out. So an update, a whopping 619 miles since Jan 1. WooHoo .

I'll probably start around the end of April. I did 4000 miles in a couple late October weekends last fall.

Looks like our current rain moves out late Saturday. Sunday and next week looking good, in the low 60's. Maybe I can at least get some 2-wheeled commuting time in.

edit: noticed on the mileage tracking worksheet I am listed as "unspecified". I'll do year-round this year tho I'm sure I'll be lucky if I get 15K.

And yes, I have not adjusted the clock on the FJR for the time change that happened a few weeks ago just yet.

I am guessing the spread sheet hasn't been updated so far this month, since my start date is still unspecified. 4/1/2010.

I haven't been able to ride almost this entire week with the cold snap we have been having. It was fooking snowing when I went to leave work yesterday.

    Edit; Updated.

Here's where I'm at; like I said, miles are really adding up for me...

I'll roll through this tonight and get currents stats on the worksheet. My 4.5 mile commute is really piling on the miles!!

Yesterday wasn't the greatest of weather here, gray and sputtering wet, but it turned out to be a fine day for a bike ride nonetheless. Ended up doing ~380 miles in a 10 hr, mostly leisurely ride. Glad I did- looking forward to a few days of really crappy weather from the s.w. Thanks a lot fellas!

Well, another month down the twah-lette & time for an update. Been mostly commuting with a little pleasure riding, including taking various long ways home. 3958 mikes for the yr.

??? As a contractor or active duty?

Sorry to hear about your departure...stay SAFE over there!

BTW, I think I will be least miles...my only miles so far are down to the camping event until the breakdown.

Seriously though, be good and stay safe.
